Mummy's Birthday

It was mummy's 60th birthday yesterday. To chinese, 60th birthday is deemed as a big achievement. However, our family do not believe in elaborate celebrations. We will usually just go for a simple dinner and have the usual cake cutting ceremony at night. Being the 60th birthday, I decided to give my mum a well-deserved holiday. So I took over the task of dinner preparations...since home-cooked food is the best, right?
Below are the dishes I came up with:
From this, what can i create?

I created my parents' favourite - Fried Vegetarian Oyster Omelette.

Almost all the ingredients for our 3 course dinner.

Clockwise starting from the top left: Wrapped golden mushrooms with ham, Cabbage Stew and Self-made egg with vegetables and king oyster mushrooms.

My sister's contribution of Mashed potato and carrots balls.

My simple way of thanking my mum.

Contradictions

Many times during my working hours, I wonder why the clock is moving at such a slow pace. Because it takes ages just for me to survive through till 630pm where I can knock off.

However, if you were to think on a day by day or month by month basis, you will be shock that how fast times has flies past without us knowing. Imagine not long ago we will still celebrating our Xmas, chinese new year and now is already March and we have already done with 1/4 of a year.

So is our time moving too fast or too slow? I wonder....

New skill

As everyone will know I am actually very free in my current job due to the economic situation. If you are wondering why aren't I more busy in creating more sales opportunity in this situation? The answer is my boss believe on reducing budget and projects in such times and as marketers, without $$ will be a huge handicap since we can do nothing without $$. So next qns will be what have you been doing during work then? Apart from surfing all the online news site, I have also been a huge supporter of facebook. Now, I am proud that I have improve my Photoshop skill. Since for the past week, I have been happily helping my colleague design an invite card for her son's upcoming first birthday.

Please have a look at the option I have created. Note, we will include images of her son which is currently not available.

My contributions to the ailing economy...

The initial purpose was just to collect the cheongsum that I purchase before the Chinese New Year.....See how long I took to collect our alterations. Anyway when I reach my favourite shop, I am surprise that there is hardly anyone there on a Friday night. It really show that our economy is actually ailing. However, on the other side, I always feel that the economy is ailing also because of us. If everyone of us tighten our belts and stop spending, how will our economy grow? But in times like this, we can't blame anyone right? Since it only seems right to be a little more careful in our spending.
After months of without any retail theraphy...actually only 2 months but it seem like ages...heehee, I did my part by contributing to the economy with the below purchases.

My purchases:
Me in my first cheongsum:
Wonder when I will have the occasion to wear it? Plus, it is skin tight that do not allow me to put on any weight.

Me in my new green chiffon dress. How do i look?

Totally twisted

Been hesitating whether to post this but i guess i also need a place to vent everything out. So please bear with me for being childish here or i might be even making the current situation worst.

As human many times, we choose what we want to believe and many times we missed out on a lot of other facts. To be misunderstood and to know that your true meaning have been twisted and went unappreciated, the pain and hurt is something that words cannot describe.

All I can say is that this episode really make me reflect how my actions affect people and maybe I just have to be more careful when dealing with individual. Maybe I am not that perfect friend but I definitely try my best to do what I can for my friends. It is never my intention to hurt or humiliate anyone and if I do ever hurt anyone out there or make you feel bad, I sincerely apologise for that. I always thought friends should understand each other. But maybe I might be wrong or what I believe never ever existed either.

Last Friday Night Out

After I left my previous job, I started this practise of hanging out with my ex-colleagues till the dawn of the next day. Many will ask what exactly do you guys do every Friday night? Aren't you tired about the lack of sleep? Aren't you too old for hang overs? The answers are we always go for nice dinner since everyone puts in so much effort in our respective jobs and so we certainly need a good dinner to reward ourself. Hence, we will usually go to someone's house for more games, charade or even movies. One of this place that I have frequently gone to sleep over on Friday is at Newton EuroAsia.

However, last Friday was the last time everyone of us go over for some good fun as the owner, who is my ex-colleague and now friend, is returning to her hometown, i.e. Philippines after 3 good years here. She invited us over for some good authentic Filipinos food and Wii. We also spend our time chit chatting with her and of cos gossipping abt who is the hottest guy in the office now. After all these, we still have energy to accompany her for Movie marathon of Valkyrie and K20. I am totally tired after all these especially it is my 36 hours away from home; with only 4 hrs of sleep and a face which is on the road of recovery from an allergy reactions.

Sometime i do wonder will I have been such great friend with her if I didn't choose to leave my previous job? Me being me, I will most probably choose to remain low profile and not hang out with them after work since I spend so much time with them already. Anyway, I am so going to miss her, all these fun and her bubbliness since I am not sure when it is the next time I am going to see her. But I am sure I will stay in touch with her.

Goodbye and take care, my dear Filipino friend.

P.s. more pixs can be found in my facebook

This is the first rash in my 29 years of life. sob...sob...

CNY - Final Part

I have been eating non-stop since the Chinese New Year..Somehow my appetite for this year is unexceptionally well...I guess this is something I shouldn't be proud of since I will most probably be looking like a pig at the end of it + considering my age now and metabolism rate, I can no longer afford it or should I say I never have a chance to ever afford it since weight put on can never be shed but all I can do is to maintain what I already have. Anyway, that's aside. I am going to show you some pictures of my princess clara who came by visiting our house yesterday. The poor little girl must be so tired after a full day of unstop visiting.

She simply love the red packet... give her one and she can play for a long long long time. Look how happy she is with the red packet.

Attempting to walk while her daddy holds on. Nowadays she is just super gluey to her daddy.

Oh no. I can't sit straight yet...I seems to be falling down.
Love her expression - in a state of shock as if we caught her in some bad actions. haha.
Just been informed this little girl make her 1st attempt standing on her own when she reach home. Look forward to her visit again...most probably by then she will be less cranky and running around already.

CNY 2009

It is a pretty simple and quiet CNY for me this year as my dad finally decided that we no longer need to go to my uncle's place to 拜年. Actually, I don't really mind going but the truth is we are not close at all. The brothers (aka my dad and brothers) don't really talk to each other so everyone just sit there and watch TV, hence it really defeat the purpose. Most prob, the wives might be gossiping now why we didn't turn up or maybe they might not be bother too. But who cares since most prob the next time we do meet will either be at someone's wedding if they still do invite us or someone's funeral.

Thus, my CNY only started ard the late afternoon of 初二 by gathering at my aunt's place and as usual she arrange for buffet for the whole family. We also took some pictures. Note this is just a small portion of my cousin since the married and older ones didn't turn up and some of the guy left before the picture.

Cousins with our smallest aunty... She look as if she is ard our age right? Hopefully I will be like her...i.e. wouldn't age over years.

The babes.

Another key highlight for this CNY is that as I have been promoted to Godma this year, my godchildren has to come to my house and 拜年. I already pre-empt my mum that this godson of my is a very cool and someone full of character. This little one really live up to his names...totally gluey to his mummy and couldn't stay at my place for too long. Anyway he is still a lovable boy who is very smart.

What's this in my hand?

He actually recognise camera...once you flash the camera at him, he will stare at you. However, he will only smile after the flash. He still have some model qualities.
